4TH Alumni Lecture Welcome Speech by the Alumni Chairman ENGR. DIDEOLU FALOBI

All protocols duly observed.
I welcome all attendees to the 4th Alumni Lecture of the University of Lagos Alumni Association which is being held in honour of a distinguished Alumnus and the outgoing Dean of the Faculty, Engr. Funso Falade. The lecture will be delivered by another distinguished Alumus and an engineer of repute in person of Engr. Adebayo Adeola, the Chairman of Comprehensive Project Management Services (CPMS) Limited.

Professor Falade’s tenure from August 1, 2016 will come to an end on July 31, 2020. The tenure has witnessed a number of giant strides amongst which is the setting up of the Alumni Association and the Industry Advisory Board. On behalf of all members of the Association, I thank Professor Falade for a most eventful and fruitful tour of duty and I wish him success in his future endeavours. I also wish to assure you him that his dreams for the association will come to fruition and it will soon be counted among reputable Alumni Associations globally. These, I declare, in the name of God.

The topic for today’s lecture was chosen carefully with a view to adding to the body of knowledge within our industry in the light of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Lecturer is an Engineer, a Teacher, a Strategist, a Project Manager, Director of a Bank and a distinguished Nigerian all wrapped in one. I assure you that the time spent listening to him will be time well spent.

Let me seize this opportunity to speak briefly to what the Alumni Association represents and sound the Clarion Call to all members of the association, public-spirited Nigerians and corporate organisations here present.

The University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association is a sub-set of the UNILAG Alumni Association. It serves thousands of Alumni worldwide through our various engagements. It also offers professional, networking, and mentoring services to members and to the Alma Mater.
