UNILAG Faculty of Engineering Alumnus, Governor Seyi Makinde Reduces LAUTECH Fees

 

The executive governor of Oyo state, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde announced a 25 percent cut in tuition fees for both indigenous and non-indigenous students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). The announcement was made by the governor in the course of his impromptu visit to the institution in Ogbomoso, on Tuesday the 1st of June, 2021.

Governor Seyi Makinde however clarified that whilst LAUTECH fees is yet the lowest out of all state-controlled University in the southwest, the further reduction of 25 percent would be across board.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa reported that the Governor was proud to disclose that Oyo state has secure the sole ownership of LAUTECH, with the implication that a four-year program in LAUTECH will be completed in four years moving forward and not eight years as previously experienced before his administration.

Other than these, the 170 staff of LAUTECH teaching hospital that were laid off by the previous administration are now re-employed with the guarantee that their five months’ salary arrears would be paid.

Governor Seyi Makinde stated that the Under-G/ Stadium road has been fixed and street lights are now included which is part of the promise during the election; as such, LAUTECH students are now safer when plying the road.   He further promises the construction of a befitting flyover in Ogbomoso in his statement during his commissioning of the High Dependency Unit of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

Governor Seyi Makinde expressed his gratitude to LAUTECH students for granting him amiable welcome not minding the nature of the visit.  He however promised to revisit the institution to celebrate with the students, the sole ownership of the University by the State.
