December 12, 2019 By feaaadmin In Uncategorized WELCOME ADDRESS of Chairman, UNILAGFEAA Engr Titi Omo-Ettu, at the 3rd Alumni Lecture on PROFESSIONALS IN POLITICS: PANACEA TO NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Mr Governor, Your Excellencies. Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, President and Fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering President and Fellows of NSE, President, UNILAG Alumni Association, President/CEO, Digital Bridge Institute, My fellow Engineers Other Members of the Engineering family, My Colleagues, Members of UNILAGFEAA, All our invited guests Media Practitioners Distinguished ladies & gentlemen. I welcome you. When I speak on an occasion like this, I speak for the Engineering family. Yes, this distinguished 3rd Alumni Lecture focuses on politics and our development, but it focuses even more on Engineering and those in the practice of the profession. We have spent many years arguing that for a country that has infrastructure deficit as challenge, the Chinese model of governance in which political Leadership is selected on the basis that 80% of those governing are engineers or persons of Engineering background suits Nigeria. The electorates of South West states of Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo spoke clearly in the last election by voting for leadership that is Engineers heavy. Your Excellencies, we see your election as a challenge to us as infrastructure providers and we want to remind you of this major responsibility on your shoulders and our determination to support you to succeed. In this lecture, we hope to use Mr Governor’s lecture as a compass to navigate our responsibilities as ENGINEERS to SOCIETY, our responsibilities as ALUMNI to our ALMA MATER and our responsibilities as MEMBERS of UNILAGFEAA to OURSELVES. You are welcome. Engr Titi Omo-Ettu. titi@titiomoettu.com.ng Chairman UNILAG Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association December 12 2019. Share this content: ← → x ×
