April 8, 2026 By Sola Aina In Innovation & Industry Partnerships The University of Lagos has once again affirmed its place as Nigeria’s First Choice and the Nation’s Pride with the formal launch of the country’s flagship Artificial Intelligence-focused UniPod. The landmark event, held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, marks a major step in positioning UNILAG at the forefront of Nigeria’s innovation and technology ecosystem. Representing the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President in the Office of the Vice President, formally launched the facility at UNILAG in the presence of top government officials, development partners, university leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and students. In her remarks, UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, described the UniPod as a transformative platform under the UNDP Timbuktoo Initiative, designed to nurture innovation, strengthen collaboration, and empower young people to develop scalable, homegrown solutions for national development. The occasion also featured an Innovation Marketplace, showcasing practical AI-driven solutions across sectors such as healthcare, fintech, agriculture, education, tourism, and deep technology — a strong reflection of the University’s growing role as a hub for creativity, research, and enterprise. For the University of Lagos community and its proud alumni, this is more than the unveiling of a new facility. It is a bold statement that UNILAG is not merely preparing for the future — it is helping to shape it. This achievement is a source of immense pride to all members of UNILAGFEAA and the wider alumni family. It reinforces the enduring legacy of our great University as a centre of excellence, innovation, and national relevance. Share this content: ← → x ×
