May 26, 2022 By feaaadmin In Uncategorized The University of Lagos in collaboration with Nord automobile is setting up an automobile assembly plant in the heart of the University of Lagos campus. The statement is made known by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe at the Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association 2022 luncheon of a N500m development fund, titled, ‘A better UNILAG Faculty of Engineering for all generations. Ogundipe whose tenure remained 6 months and 7 days as at the 5th of May stated that the plant set up should be before the end of is tenure and also clarified that such collaboration for automobile assembly is the first in Africa. Reminiscing over his achiement in office, the VC said his administration has been able to position the University in the best 15 in Africa and also ranked between 501 and 600 Universities globally with access to research grant to the tune of over 18 Billion naira. He also mentioned that the institution planned to attract more international students and 460 bed spaces is presently under construction by the University gate planned specifically for the international students. In his closing remark at the Alumni luncheon, the VC restates that Faculty of Engineering is one the best Faculty in the in the University and then solicit support from the Alumni of the faculty specifically those operating in the oil and gas industry for accreditation of the Department of petroleum and gas in the faculty. The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, UNILAG, Prof. Obanisola Sadiq appreciated UNILAGFEAA and members of the IAB. “I am particularly delighted that this event and all the development is taking place at a very auspicious time in that for the past eight weeks, ASUU and all the other staff unions in federal universities have been on strike to protest chronic under-funding of tertiary education sector, he said. “The launching today of the N500m development fund for the Faculty of Engineering comes at an appropriate time.” he also remarked Share this content: ← → x ×
