UNILAGFEAA Congratulates Engr. Michael (Ifeanyi) Orekyeh, MNSE, on His Inauguration as 13th National Chairman of NIMMME

The University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (UNILAGFEAA) heartily congratulates Engr. Michael (Ifeanyi) Orekyeh, MNSE, a proud alumnus of the University of Lagos, on his inauguration as the 13th National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineers (NIMMME aka 3M), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

This achievement is a worthy recognition of his steady professional growth, commitment to engineering development, and service to the profession. Publicly available NIMMME records show that Engr. Orekyeh had previously served in national leadership roles within the institution, including as Vice Chairman, while earlier records also list him among national officers and identify him as the pioneer chairman of the Awka Chapter.

Engr. Orekyeh is a graduate of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, University of Lagos, a COREN-registered engineer, and an engineering professional whose experience spans public service, project delivery, and STEM advocacy. He is also publicly identified as the founder and coordinator of MOrek STEM Network, an initiative focused on promoting STEM development and innovation among young people.

For UNILAGFEAA, this moment is especially significant. Our Association was founded to mobilize support for teaching, learning, and research in the Faculty of Engineering, and to celebrate alumni whose lives and work bring honour to our alma mater. Engr. Orekyeh’s emergence at the helm of NIMMME reflects the kind of professional excellence, leadership, and service that UNILAGFEAA seeks to encourage across generations of engineering alumni.

We celebrate him on this important milestone and wish him a successful tenure as he leads NIMMME into a new phase of growth, relevance, and impact.
