May 2, 2025 By Sola Aina In Alumni Achievement The University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (UNILAGFEAA) proudly celebrates Dr. Oluwagbemileke Oyefeso, a distinguished alumnus, on the successful completion of his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan on Friday, May 2, 2025. Dr. Oyefeso’s doctoral work addresses one of the most urgent challenges of our time: how to decarbonize power systems while maintaining grid stability. His research focuses on developing advanced models and control algorithms that harness the flexibility of thermostatically controlled loads (TCLs)—household and industrial devices that, when coordinated, can support the integration of renewable energy and ensure reliable electricity supply. From graduating with First Class Honours in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Lagos to contributing to high-impact projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation, Dr. Oyefeso has built an impressive academic and professional portfolio that reflects the highest standards of excellence. A committed member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society, Eta Kappa Nu, and the National Society of Black Engineers, he has combined academic rigor with leadership and service—mentoring students, coordinating events, and engaging in volunteer efforts throughout his journey. As we mark this proud moment, the entire UNILAGFEAA community joins in congratulating Dr. Oyefeso on his exceptional achievement. His work is not only advancing global energy solutions but also setting a shining example for aspiring engineers across our network. Congratulations, Dr. Oyefeso! We celebrate your brilliance, dedication, and impact. Share this content: ← → x ×
