The Academy’s mission—bringing together leading engineers, technologists and scientists to deliver solutions that move the nation forward—resonates deeply with the goals of the University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (UNILAGFEAA). We proudly urge our alumni, friends and colleagues in the engineering profession to engage fully with this landmark initiative. About the Competition The NAEng is now inviting submissions for its 3rd National Innovation Competition—a national call to engineers, scientists, technologists, technicians, craftsmen and allied professionals. The purpose: to identify, encourage and reward innovative works in science, engineering and technology that directly address societal challenges in Nigeria The competition spans multiple thematic areas including (but not limited to) ICT/Telecommunications; Agriculture & Food Processing; Energy & Energy Transition; Renewables; Infrastructure Development; Health & Health-Management; Waste Management & Environmental Protection; Transportation; Mining & Mineral Processing; Artificial Intelligence & Robotics; Climate Change and related Ecological Challenges; Manufacturing. Key Dates & Stages Stage 1: Submissions of Concept Notes – Participants are to submit a concept note between Monday, 20 October and Friday, 19 December 2025. Stage 2: Submission of Full Proposal – Short-listed participants from Stage 1 will be invited to develop full proposals from Thursday, 15 January to Friday, 13 March 2026. The winners will be publicly announced in June 2026. Eligible submissions must be from Nigerians (excluding Fellows of NAEng), and must clearly demonstrate engineering content, originality and relevance to national development. Collaborative works are encouraged. Prizes include cash awards, public recognition, certificates, plaques and promotional support to scale winning innovations and link them with investors. Why UNILAGFEAA Alumni Should Participate As proud alumni of the University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering and as part of the UNILAGFEAA network, you are positioned to contribute cutting-edge ideas, harness multidisciplinary teams and bring practical solutions to Nigeria’s engineering and technological needs. Participation in this competition offers an excellent platform to showcase your innovation, gain recognition among professional peers, and tap into support mechanisms to transition ideas into market-ready solutions. It aligns strongly with UNILAGFEAA’s broader mission of bridging academia, industry and service, helping our alumni network remain at the vanguard of national development through engineering excellence. We therefore call on all members of UNILAGFEAA, including engineers, technologists, researchers, and industry professionals, to: Review the competition guidelines and entry requirements. Consider forming or joining a team around an innovative idea aligned with one or more of the thematic focus areas. Prepare and submit your concept note by 19 December 2025.
