July 10, 2021 By feaaadmin In Uncategorized The Executive Chairman of the University of Lagos, Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (UNILAGFEAA), Engr. Dideolu Falobi led the executive members of the Alumni association on a courtesy visit to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu at the state secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday 6th July 2021. The executives were accompanied on the visit by the present dean of the faculty, Prof. Obanishola Sadiq, and the immediate past dean of the faculty Prof. Funsho Falade. In his opening remarks, Engr. Dideolu conveyed the purpose of the visit to include an expression of gratitude for the leaps and bounds in achievement delivered by the Governor in the management of the affairs of Lagos State. Other than these, he appreciated the governor for his historical support to the Alumni association even long before he was elected as the Governor of Lagos State. Continuing his appreciation, the donation of the Geotechnical laboratory to the faculty as well as the endowment of a professorial chair for the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics (Mr. Sanwolu’s specialization) were well noted. Also noted was the Governor’s delivery of the 2019 Alumni lecture where the minds of professionals were illuminated to assume the rightful position in our society’s political leadership. All these were deemed an expression of the love and commitment by His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwolu to the “Best Faculty of Engineering in the University of First Choice in Nigeria.” The laudable delivery of his excellency in governance was also highlighted whereby his performance has yielded positive impressions on all technocrats and professionals in the different places of power, all Nigerian engineers in the corridors of power and more importantly, on the University of Lagos. Engr. Dideolu expressed other objectives for the courtesy visit to include the need for execution of various projects at the faculty many of which require the support of strong alumni of the faculty. He specifically requested Governor Sanwolu to join his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde as Co-chairman of the Association’s 25-Man special projects committee to raise N500 million for the execution of various projects jointly identified with the Alumni by the faculty management as challenges to qualitative education in the faculty. In his response, Governor Babajide Sanwolu appreciated the Alumni Association with the Deans for the visit. He told the Association to “consider your request very welcome” and promised to contact his counterpart in Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde to actualize the presented Association objective. He mentioned that the Association should count on his support in its strive for an improved quality of teaching, learning, and research at the faculty. The courtesy visit ended with an exchange of gifts and photographs. Members of the executive that accompanied the chairman on the courtesy visit were Dr. Lawrence Osoba, National Secretary, Engr Ayo Ogunnoiki, Financial Secretary, and Engr Titi Omo-Ettu Immediate Past Chairman. Engr Dideolu related with the members of the Executives that the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has equally accepted to serve as Vice Chairman on the 25 member special projects committee, as such, the committee could be inaugurated by the next two weeks Share this content: ← → x ×
