UNILAGFEAA Celebrates Dr. Lawrence Osoba on His Promotion to Professor

The University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (UNILAGFEAA) proudly congratulates one of our own, Dr. Lawrence Opeyemi Osoba, on his recent and well-deserved promotion to the prestigious rank of Professor at the University of Lagos.

Prof. Osoba’s academic journey is a testament to dedication, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of metallurgical and materials engineering in Nigeria and beyond. A scholar of international repute, Prof. Osoba has distinguished himself through pioneering research in materials development, welding technology, and composite structures — areas that are critical to the future of engineering innovation.

Beyond his stellar academic contributions, Prof. Osoba has been a loyal and dynamic pillar within the UNILAGFEAA community. Most recently, at the 2025 Alumni Retreat in Ijebu-Ode, he played a central role in shaping conversations around the Association’s growth strategy, co-leading the “Current Situation Assessment” session with keen insight and thoughtful leadership.

A mentor to many and a collaborative force within the Faculty of Engineering, his promotion is not only a personal milestone but also a win for the alumni body, the Faculty, and the broader academic community.

We celebrate Prof. Osoba’s rise to the pinnacle of academic excellence, and we thank him for continuing to inspire us all with his humility, intellect, and service.
